Society of Industrial Engineering Students Nepal along with Department Of Industrial Engineering Conducts Orientation Program to New batch.
The orientation program for the newly admitted undergraduate students of B.E Industrial Engineering was organised on 17th November,2019 by Society of Industrial Engineering Students(SOIES) Nepal. Students were formally welcomed and introduced to the culture of the campus.
The orientation began with a brief inaugural ceremony at our Industrial Hall, Thapathali Campus. The dignitaries present on the occasion were Er. Sudan Neupane (HOD, Department of Industrial Engineering), Er. Bishworam Parajuli (Deputy HOD), Er. Krishna Pandey (Lecturer) Er. Sushant Raj Giri (Lecturer), Er. Ankit Shrestha (Lecturer), Er. Rajan Sharma (Lecturer), Er. Suyog Jha (Ex-President, SOIES Nepal) and Sujan Kharel (President, SOIES Nepal).
The second phase of the program started with an ice-breaker session with the Faculty members. The students spent the time interacting with each other and knowing the faculty members in a fun-filled environment. The session was handled by Er. Bishworam Parajuli.
The next phase of the program was handed over to Balkrishna Kharal (Secretary, SOIES Nepal). The session started with a detailed discussion by Nalisha Thakuri (Final Year Student) and Sharada Poudel (Treasurer, SOIES Nepal) on the actual concept about Industrial Engineering and it’s versatility. The students also briefed about required training programs planned to develop competencies to approach the technical field. The session was further taken to introduce the Industrial Engineers Profile by Shankar Adhikari (Executive Member, SOIES Nepal) and Saroj Pokharel (Public Relations, SOIES Nepal).
The second half of the day was started after a short video break about Industrial Engineering at Thapathali Campus prepared by the students themselves with an introduction to Society of Industrial Engineering Students Nepal(SOIES Nepal) by Prakash Upadhyaya( Executive Member, SOIES Nepal). Students were informed and updated about the previous and future proposed tasks of SOIES Nepal. As part of the orientation Sujan Kharel, President, SOIES Nepal, explained the students how to set their career goals.
The detailed program structure and evaluation criteria were explained to students by the students of senior batch categorized as mentorship, followed by campus tour. The seniors also addressed the students and advised them to be focused on academics.
During the orientation, an interesting announcement was also made for students to help collect and donate used books for the students of deprived areas. SOIES Nepal planned to extend it’s welfare services to the society. This event was aimed to imbibe a sense of commitment and responsibility of the students for sustainable development.
